Vintage 1954 Madame Alexander 18" Active Miss Sweet Violet
- Jointed - Cissy Face - Walker Doll -
She is marked "
ALEXANDER
" under her wig cap.
The dress is tagged "
Madame Alexander
."
Her walker mechanism works very well.
She is made of hard plastic and
stands almost 18 inches tall
with ball jointed arms and legs
and DEEP BLUE sleep eyes -
from what I've read this is the ONLY doll
Madame Alexander made with these deep sapphire colored eyes.
She wears an organdy dress trimmed in val lace
along the skirt, bodice and sleeves.
A satin ribbon sash wraps
around her waist to tie in the back.
with taffeta underskirt and undies
also both trimmed in val lace.
Undies have pink satin bows.
Dress, sash, and underskirt were once pink
but are all now faded.
The slip or petticoat elastic is good
and stays up at her waist properly.
She comes with back seam hosiery or "garter stockings"
and black leatherette shoes with bows.
I don't know if these are the originals or not.
The vinyl strap of the shoes that goes around the ankle
can easily be removed and replaced.
Her beautiful hands have dimpled knuckles
& the details in the palms
that make her so life like in her posing.
She has a small crack in her plastic at her left wrist
and a few dings from age and wear.
She is featured in this dress on page 111
in Patricia Smith's book "Madame Alexander Collector's Dolls"

Dress
is missing one button in the back.
The seams under the left arm are opening
and there's a fray in the right sleeve
where the fabric meets in the lace.
She does have some wig glue residue on the sides of her head

This sweet rare doll is the FIRST Cissy, I think,
and she still has cheek color and bright red lips.
Sweet Violet or "Active Miss" has wonderful abilities for posing
that most Madame Alexander dolls do not have
except for Madeline.
She's a great doll to have if you love
the rare & retired Madame Alexander.

** Item is NOT mint but shows evidence of being loved. I have tried to photograph her from all sides with her wardrobe and without.  I'm only allowed 12 photos on Ebay.

SHIPPING
Doll is packaged very carefully.  She is wrapped in tissue paper before and then bubble wrap.  Bubble wrap will be lightly sealed with scotch tape so that you do NOT have to use scissors to unwrap the doll. I then use packing peanuts around the doll to cushion her within the box.
The buyer's name MUST be the name on the shipping label.  -
(I do not do
"in care of" type of labels using
C/O or CO).  If a name appears on the address different than the name of the buyer, I may cancel the order.
